DIY RX-8 long-stroke coilovers

I wanted to share a video with this community regarding a custom coilover setup that was inspired by previous discussions in the STX thread. It's not drastically different that say a FatCat setup, except that these are cheaper and retain off-the-shelf valving. I had a wrecked Ohlins R&T setup that i used in this build, it would probably not be as cost-effective if i also had to buy the springs and top hats. So the off-the-shelf Bilstein PSS might be a better "budget" choice, although these spring rates are a bit higher than that kit. It works quite well, retains full bump and droop travel, and rides and handles quite nicely.

Shout out and thanks to Paul (Federighi) for donating a few of the Ohlins parts to help make this experiment a reality.

good job overall

I’d recommend the Sakebomb Ohlins heim joint adapters for the top rear shock tower to get rid of the rubber shock bushings there

I have custom lower front shock heim joint adapters for the front LCA, you have press the OE bushing out and press these in, lmk

Seems like a great idea and a real option for people who want something that potentially offers more performance than the PSS. I'm of the mind to think the price point may hold the average and / or entry level consumer back though.

(removed post, please excuse my outburst)

Thanks, Team.

Do you know if the front LCA heim joints are STX-legal?

yes, heim shock bushings are (or were, please verify in the rulebook) legal, I had the lower front LCA version made for and used them in STX.
