Many years ago I was in Gatlinburg with my 2004 Rx-8 and almost got to take it to the tail of the dragon..time didn’t allow and not long after that trip I sold my beloved winning blue rx-8 bc I couldn’t afford it.
fast forward a decade and I’m telling my step son about my 2004 and the tail of the dragon. He asked if I would take him to the tail of the dragon one day in a rx-8. I promised him I would .. a few years later I obsessed over finding the perfect one. Found my 2011 and this weekend I made the dream come true. We had an absolute blast. The car handled so good.
Congrats! I bought my 2010 R3 (also in velocity red) in the fall of 2016 and drove to the DGRR in the spring of 2017 where I drove the tail of the dragon with my son. It was a trip and a drive we will never forget.

Yes. Deals Gap is the official name of the pass, and it is Route 129. The nickname is The Dragon. I've been going there for 25 years. Tail of the Dragon is a business that capitalized on the popularity of the area. It has a trademark. I'm just letting you know, so that you can use the correct nickname - that's all.
