IE ABS/DSC module - 04 RX8

Hi all, I am new to the club. I have an old 2004 RX8 that I got off my son and was trying to have it fixed up to run well again. I have had most things fixed but have struck an issue that the local Mazda Dealer said they can fix but it is cost prohibitive. After getting a wheel speed sensor error, the dealer did an exhaustive study to test everything electrically from the speed sensors the wiring etc and back to the ABS/DSC module, all of the connections look ok. The next step they say is to replace the ABS/DSC module but it is really expensive. They told me that only a new module can fix the problem as a used one is tied to the vin of a previous car. A new one writes itself to the vin of the car it is hooked up to.
I was wondering if anyone has some advice on solving this problem. I should say I am not very mechanical or electrical but do have some friends who may be able to help.
thanks and I appreciate any advice on this.
thanks

I would suggest you give Simon at Promaz in Melb a call as he does quite a bit of work on RX8 and he has one in the RX8 Cup series. I am sure he would point you in the right direction. I have not had any need to do this myself as yet..... and hope not to! Good luck.
