Clutch Slave Cylinder.

Hello to all!
so I recently purchased an rx8, and was proceeding to bleed the slave cylinder on the clutch, as the pedal went fully to the floor with no resistance.
after a couple bleeds, I got pressure in the pedal. However when my buddy went to press it down and hold so I could crack the bleed port, heard a pop, and pedal lost pressure.
was able to regain pressure, then it happened again. After looking around the slave cylinder I had noticed something that appeared abnormal to what I've seen on other vehicles as far as the slave cylinder.
it looks as if the piston is through a hole on the fork plate where the slave cylinder pushes to disengage the clutch.
Now is this normal? Is there suppose to be a wider tip on the end of the piston?
I looked at what the plate looks like. And it appears there's a hole in it even on new ones.
Going to attach a photo to maybe give people a better understanding.
