I use those.. and no spacers needed. I run 255 / 40 tires as well.. no rubbing. You'll have to be careful in regards to wheel weight placement to clear the front calipers. I put mine on the outer lip, makes it so you can rotate any wheel to any location and not worry about clearance issues.

 

for your future reference, the S1 and S2 are identical wrt wheel and tire fitment

Zero issues using that fitment even on track. +35 probably a bit more ideal actually, gets it further away from the shock tower up front if you're running really low or soft.

I really love how these are quite affordable and light but I'm pushed away by how many people have them. It's frustrating when you want to stand out a little.

 

Spring were just installed so the car should settle another 1/4 inch. No spacers needed.

 

you likely have bigger issues than not receiving attention from complete strangers over cheap wheels that bend easy being mounted on a 15 year old, odd-looking gas guzzler RX8. I doubt that a vanity license plate that says “CHAD” is even going to help out any.

Konig Hypergrams are another option 17x10 +43 5x114.3 if you want a little more width. I run these with a 245/40/17 A052 for racing.

 

What would be ideal for road and track for 18x9.5, +45?

 

I would say a 17x10 is ideal because 245/40/17 or 255/40/17 tires are generally cheaper than 18's plus the weight is a lot less so it is faster with low WHP cars.

You are right about that but I'm already set on 18's and I think 17s look small on the car. So to be more specific I was asking about offset for 9.5 width. But you also mentioned 10 width. What would be the ideal offsets for those?

I'm already sizing down from the 19 in stocks on the R3

I think the closest offset you can get in the 10” in the Enkei RPF1 is the +38. Which you have to be careful with tire width vs. OD because there’s a pinch weld seam at the back of the front wheel well. It’s hidden behind the wheel liner, but you can get into a situation where the tire tread face will rub there at full wheel lock. You can flatten or remove it though, but the wheel liner protrusion for it will wear down as well, or you cut it off.

A 10” +45 is a better fit. There are a few not so expensive options if interested.

same for 9.5” +45, you can maybe do 9.5 +38 but might catch the inner rear wheel lip with 265 or wider tires, sometimes it depends on the tore brand/model as some are wider than others even though the numbers match.
