can’t help you where, but do not port it other than to clean up the sharp edges

You probably already found something. But I'm from Wisconsin as well closest reputable place is most likely banzai racing in northern Indiana. I have personally got engine work from them and was a great experience working with them. I also recommend for the reny engine I would just get it rebuilt to factory specs. Porting is not going to help you with more power and just cost you more money.

New to me RX-8 MN

Hello,

Several weeks ago picked up an 05 '8 at an auction for cheap. (4K after auction fees) Interior is mint. Mechanicals seem ok - until I know more. Engine seems good. Rear wheel wells are kind of crap. Vehicle has 84K on odom. Bought it sight unseen - LOL I Know!. I've done a fair amount of reading on the forum (very new member within 2 weeks) and watched tons of you tube vids on the 8. I bought it with the intent of tracking it up at Brainerd, Dakota county track, etc and some spirited summer driving. Garaged for the winter in a heated garage. I've done the following so far:

Took it to Morries Inver Grove for a "used car inspection". Was hoping they could do a compression test but they said they don't have the equipment for it, also had the oil changed. Been using premium gas and doing some light pre-mixing. I've basically babied the car since I have had it but occasionally push the revs to 9 once in a while. Before I invest any money in replacing other fluids or suspension, wheels and rims, etc. It seems the #1 thing to do is get a Mazda specific Rotary compression test done. I've searched as much as humanly possible and there are no active Mazda engine specialists around that I am aware of.

The engine actually seems good - and gets really happy when I hit 7k on the revs in the first 4 gears. Seems like the closest Mazda rotary specialist may be in Chicago area. I really want this test done so where do I go?

I am in the Oakdale area. - thanks!
Scott

I don't know about places that comp test I would just call all the Mazda dealers around I'm sure you did not to many in the twin cities area and maybe some performance shops (turblown maybe). If you are serious you can buy rotary comp testers from rotarycompressiontester.com I believe like $350-400 and do it your self the are quality and accurate or probably find used one online or maybe even RX8 or 7 forums.
