New Nissan Z hinted in Nissan commerical

After 370Z being in service for 11 years now, it looks like there is a successor lined up and confirmed in this commercial.

I am not a big fan of Nissan personally, I don't really think they are well made for Japanese cars, but heh, this is better than teasing your fans constantly with a vapourware car.

One thing about the ad, though: there is no GT-R. Hopefully that doesn't mean it will get axed off. At least it looks like a next Gen GT-R won't be here soon.

I mean, 370Z looks a lot like the 350Z so that's not a big surprise. Then again, if it works, there is no need for a change like C7 to C8.

And yeah, I just noticed that chrome strip. That's gonna look weird IMO. I was looking at this on my phone and so it just kinda looked like lighting. Now that I zoom it in on my laptop screen, that's a chrome strip and it looks odd.

Too early to tell how exactly it will look. Hopefully, it's not as hideous as the C8, LOL.

I like fastback hatches, though. Large opening and two seats mean good cargo space.

I kinda like the "fast back" shape, a little reminiscent of the 240Z. Not sure how I feel about the front end though in the current shots. Has an FRS/BRZ feel right now.

Looks like a baby F-Type to me.
Admittedly I was an early fan of the 350Z, until I drove a few. Sure, Nissan has now become more of a truck/SUV company but with their size I trust they can still make s the new Z great. The current old 370Zs are such good deals, too bad the interior still harkens back to the last season of Friends.

I agree the 370Z was on the top of my list but a test drive of a 2011 RX-8 GT against the 370Z was clear - I loved the Mazda inside and out. I'm thankful that car makers are still [teasing] thinking of 2+2 sports cars. I happen to have a soft spot for small nimble 2+2s like the 240 and the RX-8. heck I'll even throw in the mid-engined Fiero 2+2 concept https://www.motor1.com/photo/4612466...o-2-2-concept/ now given that the world lost 19 Fieros from a museum in the MI flood.

Looking forward to Mazda, Toyota, GM, VW, and the rest coming up with 2+2 sports cars priced for the masses.

Oh man, I feel bad for those guys at Fiero Forever. It especially hits close to home since I was recently affected by a flood as well. I can't imagine the hardship they are going through...

As for 2+2 sports cars, well, asking small and nimble is pretty difficult. RX-8 pulled it off because of how small the rotary engine is. When you have to put anything bigger than a V6 in your cars the small part just goes straight out of the window, though a good chassis can make up for some of it. I think the only thing in my memory that's remotely small is the BMW M2.

Also, I don't think 2+2 sports cars are really making any doughs for non-luxury brands to pursue it. On the GM front, they already are considering killing Camaro off again due to sales, despite it being the best driver's car out of the 3 American ponies. The only way a 2+2 sports car can happen IMO is a manufacturer taking an RWD/AWD sports Sedan and reskining it to be a 2+2 Coupe, otherwise it just costs too much to make a platform to be profitable.

Edit: I just remembered, BRZ/86/FR-S technically is also a 2+2, but I feel like those rear seats would make Camaro's/Mustang's back seats look spacious.

This car could be a possibility for me. If they offer a manual transmission, the Z would probably win out over the Supra for me. I would imagine Nissan will also try to undercut the Supra on pricing as well.

I like manual transmissions and 2+2 sports cars, I guess I'm old. As such, likely not buying either, however, the new Supra is mighty sexy.

Just make sure you don't roll down the windows when you are driving a new Supra, LOL.

I feel like the new Nissan Z will likely be better received by the JDM crowd, given Zupr4... I mean Supra's origin.
