Hi Everyone, Been trying to track this down. So here is the issue. My KEY light, not the imo light that looks like a key, flashes in 3 a time pattern (and repeat) while the car is running. I can run and drive the car with a regular key without an issue. I have a 2006 Shinka with AKE.

For more info, the credit card fob does not work any car function. I.E. will not let me start without a key, unlock doors pushing button on FOB or button on door handle. The light on the fob, however, works when pushing a button on the fob. I have changed the battery with a known good NEW battery in the fob. It has been this way for a while, but the flashing word just started.

I have been trying to track down using FORSCAN with no luck.

 

This sounds like that the car isn't recognizing the electronic portion of the key. Assuming it's a used car, the previous owner could have just bought an unprogrammed card/used card paired to another RX-8, then put the key in.

I would ask a dealer or a locksmith to check if the card is actually paired to your car.
