New Mazda 3 FUEL TANKS!

Well this had to happen...sorry to say I was right again, look back if you don't believe me.
I said I don't know why Mazda are even making a new 3.

And I will say this again now WHY are they making a New 6, even with a 6 cylinder, a 3 Litre Engine is too small.

Mazda 3 sales have tanked so bad they are right now even the Protoge was outselling it.

Read and the comments in this article.
https://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/20...-that-in-2020/

As I also said and it's bad to say this but Mazda's marketing is ******* woeful and they deserve everything they get...WHEN are you PIG HEADED JAPS GOING TO LISTEN!.

IF you want to do PREMIUM offer a PREMIUM ENGINE with POWER!!..forget about the cheap base market go upscale leave that to the Koreans and Toyota and Honda.

Forget about the new 6.

BTW: The Skyactiv X Engine is a dud, $2000 more, only slightly more power than the standard 2.5 NA Engine and yes in EU it has a GPF a Gasoline Particulate Filter on exhaust...great just more service cost (like Diesel), and the X must use ONLY premium Fuel.
I can just see this engine being a nightmare 'with owner warranty issues'.

If you read the article you cited to the end, you might notice that he says ALL car sales are down, except the staple Civics and Corollas. I agree, they need to market better, but I don't think the car is the problem here.

I almost bought one to replace my CX-3.

And then I bought a Miata RF.

I probably would have (and would still) buy a new 3 if it came with the 2.5T.

Cars sells down as a whole meh whatever I think that if the 3 had a 2.5T it would sell better I'd trade my 3rd gen 3 in a heart beat for the 4th with a 2.5T. Mazda is annoying they act like they are afraid to make cars with power and decent engines. I hope they change this crummy *** mentality and start dropping that 2.5T in everything. I6 should be for the new 6 platform that'll be shared with toyota/lexus. I guess will know more in a few weeks more speculation

I was recently in the market to replace my RX-8 and test drove the whole Mazda lineup. Nothing excited me, save for the 2019.2 MX-5, but that isn't practical enough for my needs. The handling dynamics were there in every model, but every model felt sluggish and under-powered--helped along somewhat by unconvincing transmission programming tricks. I bought a used Bimmer instead.

Also, Mazda REALLY needs to fix the wheel arches in all their vehicles. They all look like Victorian women running around with their skirts hiked up.

that's too bad. The new Mazda3 looks good especially in hatchback format. Perhaps it was priced higher than it should.... Mazda's quest for premium status is fraught with danger.
Also, now a days it's either PHEV or turbo-4.

Aside from the whole "car sales are down" thing, 3.0L displacement is considered pretty big nowadays. You are essentially saying most German luxury cars are "cheap" because of that. Everyone is downsize turbocharging. Want a big displacement engine? Just buy a V8 pony car and done. In fact, I think this is one thing American cars do better: big thundering V8s with 6+L of displacement. Japanese V8s are not bad, but they don't see the same level of development as the American ones.

Another factor to consider is that, Mazda, being a smaller company, they do not have the same number of sales as giants like Toyota or Honda. That means they don't have the same level of Economy of the Scale as them, so their cars will naturally be kinda expensive, as well.

And didn't Mazda say that X would run on 87 octane? Did something change recently in the design?

Mazda CANADA Sales for September of 5,843 units.
(Mazda Australia I do not have yet, but is around 10,000 units a month, and Sales are also going down too.)

Also Very Interesting to see Mazda's AWD Option was at 86% for customers buying ANY CX-? variant.
A few years back many owners were screaming about Mazda importing their AWD as an option as it was available in most Japan (JDM) Mazda's, Mazda in USA said at the time it was NOT in any demand!!.....No Only 86.7% you Bozo FOOLS!.
That is 86% of Customers willing to pay the extra $2,000 ...but hey no demand for it.
See what I mean Mazda DOES NOT LISTEN to their base.

This from Mazda Canada..

KEY SEPTEMBER SALES NOTES:

* CX-5 enjoyed a record September sales month, with an increase of 15.1 percent compared to September 2018.
* CX-3 also had a sales increase of 12.9 percent versus the same month last year.
* MX-5 sales held on to a last glimmer of summer, with sales up by 52.9 percent versus September 2018.
* Strong demand for the available i-ACTIV All-Wheel Drive option on the all-new Mazda3 continues to grow through the last summer month, with 39.4 percent of new owners choosing this option.
* Among CX-line buyers, Mazda's i-ACTIV AWD continues to be in high demand, with 86.7 percent of customers choosing the AWD option in September.

@ASH8 let's wait for CX-30, this model will be the next big thing for Mazda IMHO.

In US there is a problem for Mazda 3, the only engine available is the 2.5 (PY-VPS) ,a good engine but with almost 8 year of career.

Mazda needs to offer a turbo variant of that engine (CX-9 engine derived).

No need here in EU, the new X mated with the SA 2.0 and Sky-D is a correct offer for the segment.

let's see what will happen @TMS at the end of this month

I had several co workers test drive the 3 and passed on it due to the engine. A "premium" car needs a premium engine, and a 180HP N/A 4 cylinder isn't it.

Also confused why they have traffic jam assist unavailable in North America.
