This product is no longer available from Adaptronic, replaced by a full stand-alone for the RX-8 platform that starts at $1,500. For most uses, the piggy-back will work well, especially since the RX-8 ECU is quite fast, and will support turbo add-ons or REW builds using the piggy-back.

 

Will this still render my obd capable allowing me to pass inspection?

 

I'm not an expert but after researching, I believe it will allow obd use with a cobb accessport or something similar. I have this same ecu and plan to use it on my rew swap in the near future.

 

I personally never had any issues but I live in AZ so they just check for a check engine light and scan the obd from stock ECU which still works.

Should pass-through just fine for OBDII, this device will intercept and modify the ignition and fueling signals, allowing adjustment without affecting the internal ROM of the factory ECM. The OBDII port will read directly to the factory ECM and should pass any readiness readings they take. If they perform tailpipe emissions testing, depending upon the tuning, you may fail that component.
