Can these housings be repaired? (not rotor surfaces)
First, Mods if this isn't in the right place please move if necessary. Not sure where exactly to put this, figured since this is applicable beyond just a REW block it could fit here.

I started back up acquiring REW swap parts now that I am in a good position to start doing so.
anywho I am buying some rotors from a guy and he is offering me 100 bucks for these two housings. He claims the rotor surfaces are in great shape which I am waiting for further photos of those to prove that. My big question is, wtf happned to the sides of these housings and does it look repairable within reason? I am a bit stumped and not sure where to go, but 100 bucks for two housings is a damn good deal if a machine shop can weld and grind down these for a reasonable cost.
Hard to tell exactly from those photos, but looks like those housings have a fair bit of corrosion around the water galleries and where the water seal sits. In some areas it looks like someone has tried to clean up the corrosion with a die grinder, then in other places there looks like evidence of devcon (metal filler) used to cover over and fill up the corrosion. In other spots it looks like someone has then scratched up the housing using a screw driver, like they were scraping off the metal filler....
If it were my engine, I wouldn't be using these housings. They look dodgy and hence why the cheap price.

I'd get a second opinion on here about the rotors he is selling you considering the condition of these housings he is trying to sell you..
I am waiting to see more pics of the rotors. I have some on my phone I will upload in a sec. They seem okay and from the photos he gave me. I haven't seen the rotor bearings yet, but I plan on replacing them anyways.
I wouldn't worry about their starting weight, get them professionally balanced. That will get them better matched than even the factory alphabet ID pairing.
It looks like the water seals will go right over those damage areas (the inner one mainly). I cant tell the depth of those gouges from the pictures, but that is just asking for a water leak.
