Mazdaspeed suspension vs. Ohlins

Need help deciding which route to go.

I'm currently running stock springs with MS shocks. I'm thinking either about getting the MS springs and MS Front Tower Bar to improve the car for track.

How will those upgrades compare to just upgrading to Ohlins DFV coilovers?

Should I go direct to Ohlins or can I still find the same enjoyment from the MS setup?

All in all, I think I'm just trying to get the life out of the MS shocks with the MS springs... but not sure how much improvement I will really see adding the springs.

Let me know your thoughts on what might be best.

I have had the MS shocks and springs for the years .... It's a great setup for the road but not a huge improvement over stock on the track . I can't speak from experience but from what i hear the ohlins would make a night and day difference.

Go direct to Ohlins.
MS springs, if you can find them, are like a 15% stiffness improvement over stock. Barely noticeable.
Ohlins or any other serious coilover are ~5x stiffer than stock. Don't worry, they're still comfortable.
MS front strut tower bar is a waste of money.
Incremental upgrades in general are a waste of money, go straight for the best.

I already love the handling on the 8, esp; sliding, drifting etc. If I change to Ohlins, will my car feel very different? Unable to power slide and drift?

It will feel different, but it will still do all the things. Specific balance of oversteer/understeer conditions is up to how you set up the spring rates and damping.

It's like going to a stickier tire: you gain grip, but you reduce the margin for error. You will need to work with the car on the new suspension to be safe and effective with it.

Suspension tuning is a science, so I'd suggest starting on what behaviour you want from the car, and what problem you're trying to solve, and defining your mods from there.
