NISSAN Withdraws Diesels from Europe.

Data earlier this month showed a sharp drop in demand for diesel cars in Britain, which is Europe's second-largest autos market after Germany, where diesel sales are also falling.
A source had earlier told Reuters last month that Nissan would cut hundreds of jobs at its Sunderland plant, Britain's biggest automotive factory, due to falling demand for diesel models in Europe.
Thanks to VW emission saga, as I said when the scandal happened in US that Diesels would be set back 20 years, well now the EU are banning them, it is the beginning of the end and fast.
Why Mazda are even offering them in US is beyond me, but then again they have proven time and time again to make questionable decisions, like in Australia Dealers are TOLD to take Diesel Mazda's in their monthly allocations and Dealers hate them as sales staff have to push them onto unsuspecting customers (usually those who have never owned a Diesel product)...I would not own one in a fit, including Skyactiv Diesel...unless you flip it in less than 2-3 years.

I must wonder as well.
Theoretically, some of diesel's characteristics make them suitable for some vehicles, but even a lot of the trucks I see are gasoline. Diesel is actually a higher trim option that costs to much for most people to consider it.
It would also sound like SUVs could be good with diesels, but I suspect it will have the same issue as trucks. Too much initial cost for most people to consider.
As for smaller vehicles, yeah, I don't see the point of a diesel anymore. Get a Prius if you want gas mileage.

People love their turbo diesel vehicles up here in Colorado.
Especially pickups.
And what does the cost matter, anyway, in today's auto buying market?
Just sign up for a 96 month payment plan, and future you can figure out how to afford the $65k Ford F-250 that today's you believes you deserve.
I can't tell you how many brand new diesel pickup trucks have been bought in my neighborhood in the past 2 months. Its simply ridiculous.
