Windshield Dimensions for Lexan

Anyone have the windshield dimensions to have a custom lexan one made? I tried looking in the classifieds to look for one to measure. I'd like to get the dimensions w/o having to pull mine first. Mazdaspeed used to have one available but they discontinued it.

I had one but ended up selling it. SCCA requires it to be 1/4" thick so there is minimal weight savings. It may way more but I didn't weight it. It also fogs up worse if you do not have defrost connected.

I think there is a commercial vendor for this car. Mine was off-the-shelf, not custom.

Oversized replacement windows for Mazda RX-8 2004 to 2007 | Optic Armor Windows

I've considered Lexan windows, but my car is already under 2700lbs. As Adax says, there's probably not a lot in weight savings.

I do seem to go through windshields, though. I cracked one last year, destroyed the next in a rollover, and got a chip in the very first TT of the season this year...maybe I should reconsider... :P

Pockets thanks!
damn i’m sitting at 3200 w/me & fuel. My cage is way over built, it’s an old Speedsource ST car from Grand Am. Trying to get down to 2800. Are you 2700 dry? Pulling HVAC now, should save weight and ditching tranny cooler. Not running enduro’s this season and the HVAC doesn’t even help that much with fogging.

Last weekend at Mid-O, I was 2880 in impound after a session. That's on maybe a quarter tank of fuel. I don't have to carry a lot for TT.

My car has a very substantial cage, as well. Way above rules minimum. No HVAC, doors gutted so much they barely close. The dash is really just the outer skin riveted to the cage. No passenger seat.

I do have a problem with fogging in the rain. The previous owner (who had the car built for him) zip-tied some little fans to the top of the windshield hoop, and they really do nothing. I might as well take them out.
