Injectors
Injectors
My 2004 has 157000 miles on it. I replaced and rebuilt the 6 port motor at 155000. Compression is great, but after driving around 1000 miles or so, it doesn't appear to be sipping oil like it should. I'm not too worried because I premix. My question is, should I replace all of my injectors (oil and gas)? To my knowledge they've never been replaced on the car. From some reading i've done I am also due to replace OMP lines. The car runs great and goes smoothly to 9500 rpm, and no CELs. What are your thoughts? If the car still runs good should I just leave injectors alone? Why am I not using as much oil?
Also, ive seen some people can have bad OMPs and still not get a CEL. Could this be the case? And I should mention I run a slightly thicker oil than whats recommended, 10w-40. Does this interfere with anything?
Oil injection rate varies a lot depending on engine load. So 8f you are taking it easy for breaking you should expect less oil usage
Your oil will make no difference in the pump output
You can pull the oil injectors out and check to see if they are working fairly easily... although I don't think it's as common for them to fail as some think.
If you have access to an ultrasonic cleaner that's an easy way to clean them up
