BC 2004 RX-8 engine

Hi there sorry if this is not in the proper area but I live in Vancouver BC Canada.
I have a 2004 RX-8 GT and recently have had an engine breach and now I have white sweet smelling smoke come out the exhaust on start up. After about 5 min or so the white smoke disappears and it runs normally after that.
I have had my engine coolant light come on and now I have noticed under the car is some oil.
Took it to dealership and they said it needs a new motor.
Can anyone suggest where I can get a decent motor. Dealership says $5200 installed for a re manufactured engine from mazda. not sure what to do here.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Hae Mazda rebuit engine for sale with 22k on it

I am converting a 2004 RX8 to electric, and have pulled out a Freeway Mazda rebuilt engine with 22k on it. Asking $2000. Have all receipts and can show a video of car running.

Regards,

Gary

Whatever you do, do *not* buy an engine without seeing compression numbers first. Most engines that are on their way out run perfectly fine.

$5200 installed is high but not that pricey tho. Anyway, try contacting ForceFed or Rotary Steve for a rebuild quotation, since they might have a better deal. They will have to pull apart your motor for an exact quote.

@OP your coolant seal probably is a goner and rebuild motor like that could be pricey.

P.S. If I remember correctly Gary motor was rebuilt by Rotary Steve and he might have a compression number right before he took it out of the car.

**EDIT** my mistake just saw his post it was rebuilt by Freeway Mazda

$5200 installed isn't that bad at all. But the Mazda remans have been a little questionable in the past. Even if it were $4000 I'd probably opt to spend more and go with a reputable builder rather than roll the dice again with Mazda.
