Unhappy Rotary Engine Seized.

So after the winter had passed here in Canada, I started up my rx8 and let it run for about 20-15 minutes once the cold start had warmed out. I went to drive it and i got about a block down the road. I was originally driving to Four Function Auto Sport to get new sparks/coils installed and to have a test pipe installed. Because my catalytic converter had failed previously.
Once i stopped at the stop sign i accidentally stalled the car. I simply stopped using the breaks and forgot the clutch. (Had been driving automatic alot.) After that stop, the car did not start again, it did not jump. I had even went and switched the batteries and nothing. So i towed it to Fourfunction and they even tried a bar in the flywheel to see if the engine could turn freely but it wouldnt budge. The oil had been changed recently, all fluids were changed. I have the option for 1500$ to simply open the engine and to diagnose or 6000$ to buy and replace the engine. Mazda does it for 9000$.But 4 function buys their engine from mazda aswell. Please help me. I dont know what to do here or even why the engine is stuck. Any advice or suggestion will help. New to this car but i learned alot from these threads and followed the advice and I kept it in great condition. The kilometers on the car were nearly 30,000km. So im stumped and have no idea what happened.

Are you sure the engine seized? What is the condition of your starter? Did you try to pull start?

I took it to a rotary shop and they tried budging the flywheel, but still nothing. it is stuck and will not turn at all. And the starter clicks yes. Starter is fine, if you try to push the car and let go of clutch it just halts.

I'm trying to figure out how it would go from running to seized simply by stalling... I feel like there is more to this story.

Could it be a clutch or starter problem? Like something in the driveline is jammed against the flywheel? I too find it strange that it would seize just like that...

Thats what im curious about, because it is seized as im told. Because even with a bar into the flywheel to turn it, it still didnt budge. I did have a clutch problem earlier ahead. Pipe broke but i got it fixed and replaced. The clutch line from top to slave was that had exploded and replaced. But yea the car was running, and it didnt like stop on me as a grunt. Nor did it make any unusual sound it simple just stalled and died. It had oil and was not flooded, did pull the sparks out.

I assume they tried to turn it in both directions. A broken apex seal can lock up an engine, sometimes solid to where it won't budge in either direction. A busted side gear can lock up and engine, though that is very rare in stock engines. To eliminate other causes I think the next step is drop the transmission.
