Few questions. What is this powder stuff and what is this part?

3 questions here about my 2009 R3. First, I got this white powder mold looking stuff just inside my door, I took a picture of it. The stuff comes off if I scrape with my nail but is there a more effective way of removing it and has anyone else seen anything like it? Second question, what is the panel called that sits in front of the rear wheels. One side is looking pretty rough, as if the paint is cracking. Is it called a stone guard? I think its #1 on this page here. https://www.onlinemazdaparts.com/a/M...R/5455542.html

Last question. Can the hoods of an 04-08 rx8 be easily swapped over to an 09? Are they the same size? Same bolt configuration, etc.?

Quarter Panel, front one is Fender.

Hoods are dif on both models i believe.

The white stuff no idea how to get best rid of it, doubt is mold though.

Idk what the white stuff is. I've got it on my car. It never bothered me though.

Powder coating of the silicone door seal? Some POS owners also put talcum powder or graphite on their seals to keep them from sticking. Keeping them clean - priceless.

Just clean the powder, it's like some dried cleaning agent or something else harmless. The clear vinyl / plastic pads on the sides are rock / chip protectors, and based on the condition I see yours are in, I would definitely replace them. They can't be salvaged like that unless you gently cut off the edges and then plastic polish the protector itself. I don't recommended this. Or, just heat it up and peel it off, clean underneath, and leave it as is.

Wait they're basically stickers? They just peel off???? I always thought they were actual little panels or something.

Lol, yeah, it's just a piece of film. 3m makes a paint protection film that most detail shops have and can apply. That price from onlinemazdaparts is ridiculous, you can buy a whole roll of 3m film for that price, BTW.
