I've searched for a while now & even looking through different threads on different websites I can't find a definitive list of the gear ratios (transmission ratios) & final drives for the different RX8 5-speed, 6-speed, auto & manual boxes - all I can find is anecdotal stuff & it all varies slightly. Is there a definitive source I can go to to find this info or is it in a sticky thread somewhere called something I'm not finding in my searches??

And yes, for nearly an hour: the title of the first one "gearing" didn't come up when I searched for "gear ratios" or "final drive" or "gearbox ratios" etc & all the threads & other search variations I tried at the time. Found the second link alright but there's conjecture in that one as to what's right.

Does anyone know the final drive ratio of the S1 6 speed automatic? I've looked around but couldn't find anything.

 

You are better off using google with the site search function site:rx8club.com (I think); as I get horrible results with the forum search, even when entering in most of the thread title it won't show up on the first page or few of results.

That doesn't say if it's the 6 Speed automatic. Most people mention the 4 speed automatic's ratios. Looks like nobody knows

 

autos are open diff at 4.3(possibly low power 5 speed as well)
s1 are 4.44 and s2 are 4.77

Some autos came with LSDs.

 

All autos come with the 4.3 UNLESS they have the sport package(04-08) or the touring/grand touring(09-11). That comes with the LSD for that MY (04-08 4.44 : 09-11 4.77)

It should be noted that autos do not come with the carbon fiber driveshaft

 

Big thanks for the info, although none of the brochures you linked have gear ratios mentioned. Yes I know the autos don't have the carbon fiber prop shaft. I did find the final drive ratio of the S1 4 speed and the S2 6 speed autos. Just didn't know the S1 6 speed auto's ratio. So the auto's get the same LSD as their corresponding manual model?

 

I've got a 2007 RX8 6speed automatic, and it's 4.3 ratio.

I lowered it 4% more by putting 225/40r18 summer tires on it.

Next week I'll get my 215/40r18 Michelin PSS on it; The smallest 18" PSS, and get 5% lowering.

I bought new after dealer swapped stock wheels for Enkei GF-1 which turned out to be 7.5 x 18. LOL

Someone downsiZed me, but I'm making sweet lemonade with light grippy tire assembly of approx 42#. The wheels also are 38 ET so stance is 24 mm or approx 1 inch wider than stock. Feels great.
