New member here...how do I get activation to post in other sections? I really need help with some technical issues.


never seen a forum restrict people like this.....

 

You can ask your questions in the new member forum. The "activation" takes a combination of time since you registered and post count. The restriction is in place to avoid the other sections being filled with thousands of threads asking the same 2-3 questions.

 

If you think you have restrictions now, keep posting random **** all over the forum and see what happens. If you need help, ask in the new member forums.

 

You clearly didn't read any of the stickys or the big blue announcement that says why you cant make posts.

before you make a new post have a go with the search bar your problem may already have an answer

 

If you read the annoucement that has the details of why you can't post threads elsewhere, you would see that there is a post count restriction AND A time restriction. You don't get it lifted on passing 1, you have to pass both.

If you have technical problems, try posting that in this subforum instead of a thread about something else that doesn't get you any closer to a solution.

As a new member, chances are the problem you need help with is a basic one, which is what this subforum is for.


I deleted the posts you spammed trying to get the post count up. Just interact normally and you will meet the requirements naturally.

That attitude won't get you very far. I left posts that were on topic for the thread you posted it in, deleting the rest, because they were against the rules, the rules that you agreed to when you signed up for a membership.

Would you like the staff to make an exception to let you break the rules?

My car is having difficulty disengaging into 1st and reverse. '04 rx8 w/ 45k miles. not sure how previous owners drove it. 6MT. Goes into 2-6 fine.


I figure its either the clutch, slave cylinder, or clutch bracket and wanted to get a second opinion.

 

Are you trying to shift into 1st when you are still moving? Or is it difficult to shift into first when you are stopped?

 

Stopped.


I can eventually get it to disengage in 1st, but takes a few tries. Reverse is more difficult.


another thing to note, when driving let's say 30mph and I go to downshift into 2nd, the clutch will not want to disengage but when at a stop, it will disengage in 2nd.

 

I would definitely check out the hydraulics then. Likely it just isn't releasing correctly. A bit strange that it only does it in 1St. Do you have an aftermarket shifter or a syncro-saver type gate helper? If they are adjusted incorrectly they can interfere with the shifter movement. It might not hurt to pull the boot off the shifter and see if all looks normal with the gate ...the interlock for reverse is a small tab on the shift lever and the way the gate is designed on the top of the tranny tower

You may also have a bent shift fork or other issue in the transmission.....

 

The car has no modifications. Brake/clutch fluid level is good. I will be getting under it today to get a better diagnosis.

Also, the car chatters when driving ever since the issue started.

Chatters? Is the clutch slipping? Your clutch may just be fubarred too...if the Pressure plate isn't working then it won't disengage properly either

 

That's the weird thing...clutch isn't slipping but it chatters. I've had clutches go in the past and didn't experience symptoms like this.

 

Car also chatters at idle when clutch isn't depressed. When the clutch does get depressed, the sound goes away. Starting to think it's a flywheel issue

 

The only way to know is to get in there and see what is going on. Sounds like a bad clutch to me. That would be rare at 45k but not unheard if someone doesn't know how to drive a manual correctly or was trying to be drift king.

 

Not sure how the previous owner drove it. It could very well be that

 

The chattering sounds a lot like a release bearing issue to me. Still the same recommendation: Get in there and take a look at everything.

Couldnt determine anything from getting under it with a jack...gonna take it to my buddy's shop and put it on the lift...likely pull the tranny

 

it has nothing to do with power, I hope not.
