It sure if this has already been stated (kept getting errors when searching) but if your phone is connected to your BT, and you have you map app running for directions, it will give the directions through the speakers. Found this out by accident today as I forgot to shut off the directions before I got in trouble car and it startled me when it started giving directions as I was driving.
On my old 3 this was annoying as hell. Because the map instructions would only be said over the hands free connection, so if I was streaming music over bt, it would disconnect from the radio, connect to the hands free, say 2 words and resume playing music over the hands free. Then after several seconds of horrible sound, it would disconnect the hands free and reconnect the radio.
From what I read awhile ago, the 2009 or earlier would not stream music, 2010 and later had the capability to do it. I have a 2009, so mine doesn't which is why I was surprised to hear the directions cut into the radio when I was driving the other day.
I purchased a Griffin iTrip Bluetooth adapter that plugs into the cigarette lighter port in the armrest. Modern smartphones can handle multiple, different bluetooth requests. So my Android or iPhone (or BBRY) phone is linked in on the radio AND streaming audio using the iTrip. Link: https://griffintechnology.com/us/col...-aux-bluetooth
Well now that I have an iPhone 6s, if you turn on the "Hey Siri" function, you can go completely hands free for texting, reading texts, getting nav etc as Siri will talk through the hands free.
