Pulley kit

i'd like to see what you guys are running on your rx8, or 13b-rew. As Far as pulley kit. i know its not beneficial as far as hp gain. its mainly for "looks", i want to know which ones are better in quality?

Hard to say judging by looks. The Black Halo Racing pulleys are real nice, the machining is top notch. I have also installed the Greddy pulleys and they seem well machined as well but I am not into colorful pulleys.

Thanks 9k! I'll have a look into the BHR kit.

Has anyone else had experience with pulleys? Specifically the Carbon In Motion pulley kit?

My 2 cents; no everything is about hp. A good light-weight pulley set will help you have quicker access to the power you need I think.

In theory, by reducing the rotational mass (the force it takes to turn the pulley), acceleration should increase, thereby allowing quicker access to your car's power band sooner. Same theory to switching to a lightweight flywheel at a higher return factor than the pulleys.

The risk you'll be running might be A) if the pulley set you choose have not factored in damping effort your engine will exert on the pulley into its rigidity design, B) as much as the rpm goes up quicker it will also drop quicker if you don't adjust your driving.

Will a pulley make a difference on normal driving on the road? Probably not. On the track, it might be able to give you that 0.25sec (est.) advantage

More like 0.025 sec and not from one of those street pulley kits.

The only with any real performance kit is the Speedsource race version, but the AC pulley is eliminated and you have to jack the idle speed up to 1100+ rpm for the alternator to charge the battery.

The street kit is just bling bling eye candy

I don't know of a renny that pushes 600whp that could be a dd or a track car and still have the same basic rx8 handling characteristics.

A 600WHP renny (true Renesis) doesn't exist. And yeah 600HP is pretty useless. But that is an REW so...............

just saw that RX8Performance released a pulley kit that replaces the alternator and water pump pulleys only. This allows it to be used with or without the OE AC pulley. Only $180 bucks so not a bad price either.

also, he has an REW engine installed per the pictures, not a Renesis.

BTW, I need your help, yes i am running oil coolers, lines, electric oil cooler fans etc.

I have a Koyo Radiator, However i am still running the stock RX8 fans and shroud for the Radiator. Any recommendations? i want more flow and cooling. i'm pretty freakn paranoid about heating issues, and i do have AC still. i did go thru your thread and others countless times. On yours, you show the fan your running, The Flex-A-Lite 640? i believe? Anyway, how is it holding up? How was fitment? any issues? and was it a breeze to wire in? i don't want to run my stock one's anymore.

Thanks
- Giovanni
