2006 rx8 misfire. confirmed back 2 plugs are not firing wet through with petrol

HI all,

i have bought a 2006 rx8 and it is misfiring. Car starts fine but is misfiring on back 2 plugs.

My friend is a mechanic and after buying a new set of plugs at 93 quid he has confirmed to me that the back 2 plugs are not firing and are wet through with petrol

after reading up I have learnt that these coils are prone for failing and as such gonna buy new coils and leads tomorrow.

Can anyone suggest any other problems it may be

Welcome.
You are on the right track, more than likely that the coils are bad.
It's recommended that all 4 coils & plugs, (& wires while you're in there) be changed every 30,000 miles as routine maintenance.
Just be sure that the wires are in the right order, the connections are snapped tight, use OEM, not eBay coils, and the OEM NGK laser iridium L&T plugs.
Good luck!

Welcome,

What he said ^^. I use autozone coils though. Wires are a big deal though.

And, since you are talking an 06, I suggest the stuff in the congrats thread below.

Perhaps I wasn't clear, I meant OEM replacement, not from a Mazda dealership.
I was under the impression those from Advance are OEM replacement coils.
I had those before I got the BHR kit.

Check your cat after you get the ignition problems sorted. You may have a clog starting back there that will eventually kill your engine.

Depending on mileage it may fall under the 8 yr/100,000 warranty. If not, I know the UK has better rotary resources than the US.
