Will the Satellite radio equipment from series I work with a Series II base Head Unit?

Part number for series II is different, but maybe it is just updated and does not preclude the use of a Series I in the Series II.

 

They are different parts from Series 1 to Series 2 and NOT interchangeable.

 

Have you tried the swap or are you just saying they are different part number and therefore will not work because of this? Are the plugs different?

 

I tried to use series two for my series one, didnt work, not compatible . So my Mazda dealer and I called and talked with Sirius and they say their Series 1 and series 2 RX8 kits are NOT interchangeable for series 1 and series 2 head units. So I bought a used Series I sat kit from a member here and put that into my Series 1 RX8.

 

I appreciate that input. It will save me a lot of time.

Now,I guess I'll be putting my Series I up for sale with the rest of my part-out after I get things pulled apart.

 

Yes you could sell that used Series 1 sat unit because they are no longer produced or available from any dealer.The Series 2 sat kits are still available. Anyone like me that wanted a Series 1 sat kit has to go and find one on the used market. Put it up for sale here or on craigslist and you might find a buyer.
