RX-8 3 Rotor from Mazmart

Okay, who's ready for a proper 3 rotor conversion kit? It won't be cheap first of all, so those who want to compare bang for the buck vs V8s please go somewhere else. This thread is about something special for those who love rotaries, RX-8s and can afford to play with the big boys.

The R&D has begun for doing this the Mazmart way. some level of details with pricing should be available by the beginning of the year.

Funny thing is, I have not been on much threads here in a while and have not seen that one at all. even now. I spent some time checking out and admiring what BHR had done with their header recently and I've popped in to the General automotive section to peek at F! conversations. I have been SO BUSY recently.

I am interested, a 400WHP NA BP 20B would be my dream engine for my 8.

Doable, however, have you thought about peripheral port? that would be more practical for the power and more reliable.

This could possibly get me out of the depression I have when realizing there will never (likely) be another rotary engined car produced with the rotary as the primary powerplant.

Have not really done any homework on 20B's I just get a chubby when I hear a Rolex RX-8. I would like whatever is most streetable.

We can create something VERY similar to that in output and sound for those who want NA goodness.

I'm not saying this is all I'd ever need in life.....actually, yes I am. If you could do a reliable, truly streetable 3 rotor kit (everything I need) to achieve that glorious sound, and 400WHP with a reasonable price (all things considered), I'd be on it like white on rice. Additionally, I think you're reading the market correctly. RX8 prices have plummeted and will continue to sink even a little bit more. Many of us, myself included, are looking for low priced RX8s to build into evil street/track machines. Meaning, your offering of a kit at this time is actually quite good timing. :D

I fully understand that a swap of this nature would be a "big boy" swap and won't be cheap. That being said, I'm new to RX8s coming from owning an FD. Not new to rotaries by ANY means, but I'm totally clueless on what this could cost in the 8. Any way you could give us a ballpark/range estimate of what you're shooting for? Also, would this kit be a direct fit for the series II RX8 also?

Also, I'm assuming a swap of this nature would require the FDs 5speed due to the extra power? The RX8 6 speed isn't quite strong enough for that is it?

Full job done here is in excess of $20k, without question with a fresh Engman built 3 rotor. How much above that? We are working on the variations and all the necessary ingredients. A good example being, the stock FD box is a bit weak for a good 20B. i'm speaking to all the right people to know what will be used.

Hi Paul, thanks for the response. When you say "Full job done HERE is in excess of $20k"....does that mean, swap performed by Mazmart on site? AKA, customer sends you a car and labor is done by Mazmart? Sorry for the dumb questions but I'm not familiar with y'alls business yet.

I guess what I'm asking is will this kit be something a buyer purchases and then does themselves or will this kit be something installed and tuned by Mazmart.

Yeah I figured it was borderline for a 20B making healthy power but KNEW the AZ6speed would die an instantaneous death haha.

I'm interested in a motor mount kit. I think an n/a 20b Pport with ITB's is going to be awesome. that should net 350whp easy. I'm a fan of using the 6spd manual from the rx-8 and would be looking to retain it. I've done a bit of research on this lately. I've exchanged emails with Logan at defined autoworks the past couple weeks. I can't wait to get details on this in january. it's going to be epic.

touche. I was thinking the smooth power delivery of a n/a 20b would be ok. I haven't grenaded my current s1 trans and I'm making over 300 whp now. I'll be going s2 trans when the time comes. so far, no issues.

And there is always the difference between a torque failure and a horsepower failure. I imagine a 13b turbo 400whp is a different type of transmission strain than an N/A 20b 400whp.

Likely the NA HP will be easier on the transmission...It won't hit with as much ferocity as the boosted engine

I still wouldn't think the 6 speed would be good for long at over 350 anything ;-)

Danny of Automotive Plus in Brisbane has a PP 3 rotor running on a MX5 and he has successfully tracked the car using a RX8 series 2, 6 speed gear box.

The motor pushes around 400HP at the wheels.
