changing brakes at the dealer

I'm at 78,000 km with my 2009 R3 and it's time to get these done, but every time I deal with Mazda it's just overpriced. (Yes I know I own a high ish end sports car and I complained oh well). They said front and rear can be done for about $1,100 including apparently a discount that I simply asked for, about 10%. Sounds generous.
I'm planning on keeping my 8 for good and from here on will be putting on as much as 30, 000 km per year .
Who does my brakes doesn't effect resale value down the road should I decide to does it?

No, who does the brakes doesn't affect resale value.

This is yet another example of what paying to have someone else maintain your 8 is really expensive, but doing it yourself is really cheap and easy.

The RX-8's brakes were designed for fast and easy replacement, like for people that drive to the track, put track brakes on in the paddock, go racing, swap back to street brakes, and then drive home.

Pad changes are literally 1 bolt for each caliper, with the rears also needing a $3 tool to turn the pistons back into the caliper. Rotors add 2 bolts for each caliper. All easily accessible.

For about $100 -$200 in parts you can do them yourself.

Lol $1,100. I imagine they told you the rotors need to be changed? At 78,000km with stock pads, that shouldn't be necessary. A local garage can do it just as well (but don't let them mess with the rest of the car).
