13B-MSP Renesis power/torque graphs

good day to everyone.

some years ago i fell in love with the RX-8, and mostly with the engine. frankly i think its a great idea, when applied properly a great engine.

my chance to purchase a car to call my own has passed for now, perhaps in the future. but at this time i am far more interested in something else. i am studying to be a pilot, and a few friends and i are looking into building a Kit plane.

the aircraft itself is no problem, engines are. the basic requirements are for a lightweight (200-400 Lbs) engine producing 180-220hp. the recommended engine is a lycoming O-360 series. the rub, that engine tends to run $25,000 new. more in fact, than the rest of the air frame.

while i realize there are a whole order of mechanical and electronics issues to be worked out the real question is can the 13B-MSP Renesis provide the power i need.

the O-360 is 200hp @2700rpm making 389ft-lbs torque. (bear in mind this is a horizontal 360 CI 4cyl air cooled engine. it is even use in helicopters from time to time. so i dont know how much torque is really needed)

my real question is can the 13B-MSP Renesis do the trick in terms of torque and lower end power. to determine this i really need a graph of the power output. can anyone point me to a good source of this information.

at the moment this is only in the research phase.

The Renesis is a popular choice for kit aircraft. Lots of resources out there, but I'm not aware of any solid discussion on the subject on RX8club.com, as this is more about the car than the engine. Because I know it is commonly used, I know it meets what you are looking for from it.

Try something like: http://www.rotaryaviation.com/
