In the s-dais table: SSV open rpm it shows coolant temp -40 -4 and 32 under those temps it has 3000 in the rpm boxes. Then for the rest of the coolant temps 68-248 it has 0 for the rpm. So does that mean when coolant temp is above 32 my ssv is always open? If it is should i change that? Temp readings are in standard units.

Changed the 0 rpm to 3750 rpm and car seems to idle better and lower rpms seem smoother and bit more torque but no real proof behind it. And this is how all the cobb maps were that i got with it.

 

It has been suggested the temp reading is irrelevant...not just a Cobb issue but the OE map being pulled.

Others have only modified the non zero values.

 

haha, well if my worksheet does the same thing for you that it does for me, go to my thread for the maf scaling (*near the top*) and do some wot runs... if you see an OBVIOUS spike around the range the ssv is supposed to open, you will know its working. Kinda a fluke of my sheet is that it will varify if your valve works for you! :P

 

I'd be interested in this as well, I just checked my tune and my SSV opening RPM value at higher temperatures is also 0. I'll reflash this week and see if it changes anything.

 

I see the same at mine MAP, did you reach any conclusion?

By my logic SSV is open all the time, after reaching 68°F. Correct?

I'm a bit curious, because subjectively I've always thought my car had a bit more low end when cold.

 

Have you tired warming up your car and watching to see if it opens?

EDIT: Is there an easy way to visually see that it opens?

 

Pop the hood with the engine running and look at the control arm. Then kill it and see if the position changes.

It doesn't serve any useful purpose. Despite the map implying otherwise, the AP has no control of the SSV. The SSV is controlled solely by the PCM and it opens when the PCM determines the secondary injectors need to start firing. What the SSV does is open intake flow to the secondary intake runners and ports. So you can't have the SSV closed and start firing the Secondary injectors or the fuel will just puddle inside. The reverse is opening the SSV, but you need additional fuel to keep the AFR proper. The PCM knows what load conditions are correct to do this. You can't do it by just guessing some rpm point.

Don't waste your time and energy trying to reinvent the same wheel all over again.

 

Thanks for the heads up, my excitement was to see if it was stuck, not change anything in map. I have a problem area from 3.5-4.5kRPM that I thought might be influenced by a stuck valve. Together with what I mentioned earlier, low end tq seems better when cold.
