So long...

well, I havent been around here much over the years after being pretty active the first few years I had my 8. I guess I just "grew out of it" as I got older. I just turned 41 on May 1st and decided after 9 years it was time to get a new car as a gift to myself. I've really been needing a hatchback of some sort, since I have been really into biking and inline skating. Since nothing REALLY catches my eye for the money I want to spend, I decided to lease, and got myself a Hyundai Veloster Turbo. It's kinda cool and different though it is NOT the 8, for sure.

I thought I would get on here and get some advice on what I might do with the 8 now? I took it to CarMax this morning, and they offered me WELL BELOW what KBB says it should be worth. What a joke! I guess I will be trying to sell it on Craigslist or Auto Trader.

It is a BB 2004 MTX with Touring and Appearance packages. I have ADR 19" 5 spoke rims on it and the OEM rims sitting in my storage with some VERY OLD tires on them. I have the CorkSport exhaust, and a Ram Air (dont remember the brand of that) and I have the original VFAD in storage. I also have a "imitation" MS wing that I never even installed. A lightweight pulley of some sort (again cant remember what the heck it is after all these years away from the lingo).

You guys/gals have any advice, based on what you've seen work for others selling their 8's? If there is some kind of interest for me selling anything here, I will post things in the FOR SALE section.

I appreciate all the help I got from Tampa/Orlando people back in the day, and the information I have gotten from everyone else here whether it was from questions I asked or just went looking for, or even "came across" while browsing.

Thanks

Make it as stock as you can, and take it back to carmax for a second appraisal, if you really want to go that route.

Otherwise, make it as stock as you can, and put it on Craigslist.
Someone will buy it.

no idea what your year and model is, just keep in mind that even for a base model '04 you will be hard pressed to find a private party buyer for $7k, but that is where i would start unless it is very low mileage. you won't get much additional for any mods, so you may just want to put all the stock parts on and sell the aftermarket stuff separately.

used car lots are a joke, i wouldn't even bother going to one unless you needed cash on the spot. is it worth spending a few hours to list it privately to make a few thousand extra? in most cases the answer is "yes", unless your time is really that valuable. it may take weeks or even months but the effort involved is usually very minor.
