Vented Hood w/ K&N Typhoon, making it viable?
Vented Hood w/ K&N Typhoon, making it viable?
I was seeing a couple K&N Typhoon CAI (HAI
) questions and the general consensus they suck in too much hot air from the engine to be efficient.
Just as a theory, do you all think having a vented hood (maybe with the vent near the intake position) would mostly negate the problems typically associated with this intake?
Simply an idea that I thought up for those that like the sound of the K&N.

I tried making an air box for it. It definitely helped. I think a box, and the Racing Beat ram air duct would help a lot. I did a lot of playing with that intake before I sold it, with datalogs of temps to go along with it. With the ram duct, it was a lot closer to ambient than without, even with the filter open to the engine bay.
