I like the way he did the spoiler, the front faschia and the front brake vents but the rest is just goofy (especially the hood and what he did to the rear doors)

Absolutely HORRIFIC!!!!

He's obviously influenced by Lambo's and doesn't seem to have heard that the 'stealth / edge' design style went out of date 10 years ago.

As for the rear doors, WTF????!!!! I guess the rear seats are now redundant then as there's no way you'd get into them now. It's one of the KEY features of the car and he's just made a special design a normal 2 door.

It would seem it has undergone some changes though, so I don't mind seeing it again.

You can get in them like in any other 2+2 seat car. I've had friends not know/forget about the rear doors and just lower the front seat to squeeze in the back. Of course it's a LOT less convenient, but it works. I think this person chose form over function.

Here's the original thread/design: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-multime...-theme-191625/

I think there some definite improvements, even if they're subtle. The paint scheme definitely helps. I like the new rear a bit more.

The biggest difference (to me) is where the fender meets the front door. That bit that sticks out on the old design is TERRIBLE. The way it transitions in the new design is a work of art in comparison.

Beyond that, I think the main problem (which other kits have encountered as well) is the roof line. The "bubble" roof line does not compliment a kit that so heavily focuses on sharp, aggressive lines like this one. If the roof had more of an angle to it and not so much of a curve, it would flow a lot better. I can definitely appreciate all the work that went into this and it came out looking like a quality job, even if we may have some critiques of the styling. It's much better than a ricey, cheap looking job.

Edit: (For those interested in seeing another interesting/unique body kit, look up the ducks garden rx8. I personally like the nickname "mazdarati" for that one)

Looks well executed and quality work. Great for a show piece, but I don't think I'd drive one.

meh

the RX8, the new Ford Fiero with Lambo body kit option.

too bad i bet it is a completely stock under the shell, hardly as fast as it looks. reminds me of bone stock FDs with veilside fortune kits. "that's a nice car! what's your 0-60 in that thing?", "honestly i don't know, i got passed by a V6 camry with a 60 year old grandma the other day so..." if you do such drastic looks you better be running a 3 or 4 rotor in that thing or you just might be a ricer.

i don't think it's gaudy but it's too squared off and the front end a 100% lambo ripoff.

my old beater '69 elcamino may have looked ratty but i had a hard time letting go of that thing because it sounded and ran mean, even if it did look rough. i prefer performance before aesthetics, because a slow car shouldn't look like a racecar. many customers have the same mindset.

As far as the RX8, no.

A 1000 hp vette/GTR/whatever driving on a 60 mph road is still going at (or around) the same speed as a 100 hp (engine troubles?) RX-8. If you track your car, it makes perfect sense to spend less on aesthetics and more on performance. If you do street driving and aren't looking for legal troubles, then it could be argued that most performance modifications are a waste of money.

According the article, it has some performance modifications, but they don't go into details. The owner could have been vague to avoid legal issues or maybe avoided big modifications for similar reasons. We don't know.

I generally prefer performance over looks as well. That said, I full understand why aesthetics would be someone's main interest, particularly if they'll never really need or use the increased performance.

i know where you're coming from but i always shake my head when i see an exotic roll by that has probably never been more than half throttle. same as hummers that have never seen a speck of offroad dirt in their lives.

to me it's like building the car you want to see but not for the purpose that the looks dictate.

It's growing on me. I like it. Looks like a lot of time in effort went into achieving just what he wanted and he had the ***** to pull the trigger. Epic.

The only thing I like about it is the lack of rear doors... That was the only thing I could never stand about the Rx-8. I still think about welding mine shut.

While its too over done for my taste I don't think it's horrible. The photos look like they have a ton of post processing on them though, so I kind of wonder if it looks as well executed in person.
