Hey guys and gals, I got a 2004 silver Mazdaspeed rx8, with 5% tint and a the real deal Mazdaspeed bodykit. Okay and I'm getting cross drilled rotors and I can't decide which color rotors I want! Silver, Black or Gold. I've been wanting to plasti-dip my wheels gloss black. Now if I get em black what color rotors do you think would look better, silver black or gold. Or should I keep them stock color and get the rotors black or gold. Remember silver car with dark tint. If I get black wheels, silver rotors would pop so would gold but gold might be too flashy, but if I get black wheels and black rotors it would just be stealth mode down there lol. Now if I keep the wheels stock silver, black would look pretty nice. Would love to hear people's opinions and If anybody has done this or have pictures please send me link or please post a picture. What you guys think would look best if I plasti dip my rims black which color should I go with or should I keep the rims stock then what color would look best. I'm just asking for opinions

 

I know you want other peoples opinions but why do they matter? You should pick what you think looks best because it is your car and should be an expression of yourself.

I would just keep the rotors the stock color. The coating just gets scratched off over time anyway. Not telling you what to do, just suggesting.

 

Yeah I just wanna hear what people think would look good together like what color combos I'm leaning towards black wheels black rotors and keep the calipers stock silver or get black wheels black rotors and not sure yet to paint or not to paint the calipers black and make it just looks stealth in there and there is two options I'd go with for keeping the wheels stock color and get black or gold rotors. Thoughts about those color schemes is what replys I'm looking for. Eventually I'm gonna think more about the color combos and pick one but for now I'd like to know what other people have to say about them.

 

Rx8ualiv- yo You make a valid point bro cuz they'll look cool for a bit then wear off I think I gotta do more homework and find out if the rotor colors are just a coating or of I were to cut them would the color go back to its original metal thanks for that.

If you're really talking about coating the brake rotors, the coating will be gone very quickly from the areas touched by the brake pad, but should keep the rest of the rotor from rusting.

If it was my car with black wheels, I'd do black rotor, silver caliper. Wouldn't mix another colour like gold in there, it will get too busy.

 

I must be getting old because when I shop for brakes I look for what's going to provide the best performance for my dollar rather than what colour they are.

 

Avoid cross drilled rotors. You'll stop better with plain ones.
The color doesn't matter at all.

Here is my recommendation for brakes, and believe me, I tested em hard. Powerslot cryo treated slotted rotors for the front, powerslot rotors for the rear, they don't make the cryos for the rear, and Hawk HPS pads front and rear, and stainless braided brake lines, with the Bremflussigkeit Amber or GL 6 brake fluid. I recommend Bryce from Race Roots for fast delivery and honest prices, as I have dealt with him extensively. What I have recommended is the best bang for your buck. I hope that helps, just a little friendly and accurate commentary, and no rude or smart *** comments, which we can all appreciate.

 

The best rotors for the money are the centric blanks front and rear. Can't beat them for the price, unless you want to move up to 2 pieces rotors.

Braked have to wear, why would you cryo treat them?
HPS don't even like high temperatures that much... this means that you DIDN'T try them hard enough to make a statement.

 

^ Especially since Powerslots start off as Centric Premium blanks anyway.

HPS are a street pad. Maybe some autox duty. You'd kill them in a couple sessions at the track if you're really trying to brake correctly.
