The time has come... and I need some help.

How much would you guys think a black GS with 8200km is worth??? The car is exectuvely driven being sold by the dealer.
What do you guys think I should offer. I'm not financing or leasing... just purchasing outright (cash deal).

And help is greatly appreciated.

Not an expert

Is it a 2003 or 2004? The enjoyment will probably be the same, but a warranty might make you feel better.

I'm no expert (just an opinionated person), but if you intend on selling your car within 7 years and a lot of distance, buy an extended warranty (or have them throw it in).

Executive driven cars can be either road testers or cars that everyone at the dealership used (and possibly trashed). Or, it could be some dude that ran out of cash.

Some hints, cuz this is still a used car
- take into account tire wear
- look for chips in the paint
- no accidents?
- no B.O. (Body Odour) in the car? hahahah

Anybody else want to help the guy out?

Good luck with your purchase!!!!!!!!!

The car is a 2004.

I did check the tires.. there plenty of room to the wear bars... they should last for a bit at least. There no damage to the body. I never even though to ask about any accidents.

Oh and it was just the dealership car... but I drove it and it sounded quite healthy to me... but I will definately go with an extended warranty.

The dealer was asking $34,000 when it was advertised at 6000k. Now it has 8200k.

I don't want to settle for that price. And it has been on the lot for quite a while....

Hi Murray,

When you say your going with a cash deal are you referring to writing up a cheque or are you actually going to give them all CASH?

Is it okay to give a DEALER all CASH when buying a car like say $40,000 all in CASH?

I say I will pay no more then 34 tax in for that model with the amount of km's on them.

let us know how it goes.

I'm not sure how they want it. I've always wondered what it would feel like to walk into a car dealership with a bag of money.... but I think it would be easier to give them a certified check from my bank.

I was thinking around the same price you were... 33-35 cash in. It depends how needy they are right now. March is usually a slow month for car sales... especially with the reacent snowfall.

I'll let you guys know how I make out. I'm going either tonight or tomorrow.

Only offer them $30k and see where you end up. They may be desperate!

Oh, and ask them for (no, demand) the fuel log, dealership should have it, if they owned the car. You want to see what the fuel consumption (L/100km) history was like, you don't want to be stuck with a problem car. Ours was using 18-20L/100km before we took the buyback and presumably it was sold as a used car with 6000km by Albion Mazda. They kept telling us this was normal consumption and they could do nothing to fix it!

I'm sure it's ok, but would you want to be carrying around 40k in cash even if it was straight from the bank to the dealer. I don't think the dealer would enjoy counting it.

I paid by cheque from my account, not certified or anything.
