Need help on Wheels

So I have an 09 GT, and looking to install the below wheels. I know they are 7.5, and looking to add a slightly wider tire, but not sure which size to go. I had a 3 series prior and hated the rubs.. I will not be dropping it, nor offsetting it crazy..

So alittle wider then stock?

If you are going to get new wheels at the very least stay at 8inches. Going down from the stock size is a no go. Check out the thread that is linked in J8s sig, that should give you some insight on what to look for.

What is the most important goal?

Wider tires? Wheels with a specific look?

Wider than stock tires on narrower than stock wheels is a bad idea. Your stock wheels are 18x8 and probably weigh in the neighborhood of 20-22 pounds.

245/40-18 is a reasonable size on stock wheels. The stock wheels look nice and aren't too heavy, so if you're just wanting a wider tire, try the 245 on the stock wheels.

The Tire Rack has a nice wheel selection system the lets you sort by price, or by weight (yes, they list the weight of all the wheels). It will also show a rendering of each wheel on the car.

Most wheels, especially the most inexpensive ones, are heavier than the stock wheels -- usually by a lot. The ones you linked to look like boat anchors. I can tell you from experience that heavy looking wheels are never light, but light looking wheels are sometimes heavy.

Rota is a good brand that has some inexpensive and relatively light wheels, that is not carried by the Tire Rack. machiii.net has a decent selection of their wheels and does list weights for some of the models.

Very good, thx for the advice, at least a 8 or 8.5 should be fine. I don't run on the track, and only scream the highways. Im not concerned with weight, as I don't race anyone, so the wear and tear on the car is the only concern I guess. I wanted to change up the look with a different wheel, that was the goal.

Have to admit that's one fugly wheel, but that's only my view. More concern would be durability, and more weight on the suspension does wear out other components on the suspension and the handling goes down the tubes.

I wouldn't go with less than 8" unless you're running winter tires.

Cutting to the chase, if your not lowered don't worry about rubbing especially with the specs your talking about. Also heavy wheels will be felt on this car more than your Bimmer .

These are a little more expensive than the ones you chose, but they would look better on an S2 IMO. You can run your stock tires on these as well with no rub as well as the 245/40/18.
