BC BC: Returning member - Parts question.

Dear RX8 Club,

With much regret, I had to give up my RX8 in 2009. It was a 2005 VR two tone leather interior.

I am soon in the market for another car. It's very important to me, to recreate the first love, that I know we all enjoy so well.

I am debating between a 10 and a 05. I'm leaning towards the 2005 model again. Not just for nostalgic reasons... I'm really inspired by this: http://www.viper.com/SmartStart/Features.aspx.

After the 2005 model, a new Mazda smart security replaced the old point and click security alarm. The problem is, I've never seen a successful marriage of OEM security with factory. Having said that, I really want a security system that links to my iPhone / Andriod.

So.... what's this thread all about?

New parts. That is... replacement parts for my next car. The gear syncros are usually the first to go on the RX8 and I want fresh syncros in place, before I add my short shifter and syncro-savers bracket. Do I need to buy a whole new transmission? or can the gears just simply be replaced?

I wanted to check this out myself, but search did not reveal much. I haven't been on the boards much since 2009, so things are organized a little different.

Thoughts? suggestions?

I really appreciate the wealth of knowledge here, and I hope this is a worthy thread.

Thanks!
