Trying to figure out what is going on

Okay so on Wednesday my car popped the p0302 code for a Rotor 2 misfire. No biggie, so I bought four new spark plugs and ordered the spark plug wires since Advance doesn't carry them in stock. I have to get to work so I just babied it all week and didn't really have any real issues until my way home today. It would really stutter and kind of choke out and seemed to want to stall out. I don't have a scan tool here at the house but it was flashing when I got it in the garage. It smelled pretty bad (like an electrical burning smell), but the oil pressure didn't budge nor did the temperature gauge. If it just ignition or would it be the Cat?

Just got the car a few weeks ago and don't drive it hard. Seems like the car has been taken pretty good care of though cause it is clean everywhere. Any help would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Did you also replace the coils, if not start there. You could also test them and see if they are ok or not if you wanted to, search for that.

Haven't changed anything yet. The plugs are in the console and the wire set won't be here until Tuesday unfortunately.

I wouldn't drive the car any longer, it should have sat until you replaced your ignition components.

Didn't want to drive it, but have to get to work to keep the car you know. Just frustrating that the car is acting up because I replaced a car that was a ticking time bomb and hope not facing anything major now.

You will probably need to change the ignition coils at the same time that you do spark plugs and wires.

A flashing CEL on this engine is a REALLY REALLY bad thing.
You can and will destroy the engine running around with a misfiring rotor.

BC.

Yeah I was thinking that too since I smelled the electrical smell that a coil probably burnt out. Didn't really act up too bad until the way home yesterday and about half way home it got really pissy. I babied it home about 4 miles in city traffic and never got over 45. So been parked since and will be getting wires and coils by Tuesday.

No lie though I got a STEAL of a deal on the whole thing because I got all 4 plugs and wires for $95 and am getting all 4 coils for $80 from Advance Auto thanks to an online discount and coupon combo. So really lucky on the price. Plan on cleaning MAF and ESS while I'm at it too.

So spent a few hours with my buddy last night while I replaced coils, plugs and plugs wires. Runs like a champ now, but had to tow it to the shop so that sucked. All in all it wasn't too difficult. Plugs were pretty nasty as you can see in the pics, plus figured I would post a pic of the 8 up too. Thanks to everyone that gave advice.

Just click on manage attachments in "additional options" when you're writing your post. You can add a few images and it will automatically put them in your post after you upload them.

Rockauto has the plugs for about $17 right now, buy plugs and wires its $100 shipped to me on that site so he saved about $5. The deal he got on the coils, even if they are not oem ones, was the real winner there.

advanced autoparts often has 15% off any web order (shipped to home or store pickup) on orders $100 or more. Plugs and wires will put you over $100 to get the 15% off
