Simple is a relative term.
For me, I would say it is simple to do, however for you I would say it is not.

Just by asking this question you've indicated you're not capable of doing it.

Well is it hard to learn? There was a point when it was not so simple for you.

Of course.
But I was able to find the answer on my own and learn many other things along the way.

Everything you need to know is in the rx8club.com

I'll give you this as many people seem to largely miss understand the Cobb AP.
The Cobb Access Port is only a tool used to access the vehicles ECU.
It can load new Maps and Monitor or Log many of the systems data points. (ie. Coolant temp, AFR's)

However it in itself is not the tool used to change the Rev Limit.

Deconstructing your original question to a literal translation, I guess the answer would be:

No, it's not easy to raise the rev limit with the accessport.
I know of no way to do it.

According to their website they no longer offer the AP for the rx8. Am I reading that correctly? If so are there other options? I see racing beat offers a service but it's for MT guys only.

You most certainly are not reading that correctly. According to their website, they say to go to MazdaManiac to buy it : http://www.cobbtuning.com/info/?id=5538

Obviously you're a troll or just too stupid to realize that comment was posted well before Valentines day.

You're right, I can't accuse you of being an a-hole on V-Day-just a week before and a day after and probably the other 363 days this year.

LOL really.
I've contributed to this pointless thread more than your douchtard comments have.

Nice 16th post, you're a real benefit to the community

I'm going to have to agree with wcs on one point: this isn't helping 06blackAT raise his rev limit. I clicked on this thread because I was interested in any technical answers that might be given and I found the condescending attitude offensive and said so. Now, I'm done, other than to say I am still interested in learning about raising rev limits.

maybe you should look at your own attitude and consider who you may be offending before criticizing anyone else about it? He's just as much welcome to his opinion as you are.

I find the longer your a member of a forum the less helpful you become. You often forget this is a place to come for answers.

Of course the easy thing to do is say "search it's been discussed 100 times." but if you actually do try and search using the poorly antiquated search on the site you'll find it's not that simple. What you'll find are pages upon pages of unanswered or half answered posts.

I think his question is legitimate as there is nothing on MM's website saying this is possible but people clearly have had their rev limit raised with autos. But then again nothing on their site mentions you get increased OMP rates or the convenience of the fans turning on at a lower temp but it seems those features come standard. I've read about 25 pages of the AP discussion thread, and every page on their site and have emailed them twice asking about the rev limit. And also searched. Nowhere have I found a definitive answer to the question. Just smartass responses and indirect implications that it "should" be possible.

I think what we run into are forum "tough guys" who feel the need to respond but don't really know the real answer.

What these people do is discourage new owners from exploring and experimenting. Little do they realize they need this renewed interest to drive demand for new or revitalized products. The proper route would be to say hey I don't think you can raise the rev limit, it may be possible with the Cobb ap, contact MM and find out, and if not request to see if they can. Or just say yes if you know it to be true.

$.02 time over

I basically spelled it out in this quote from above.

However it in itself is not the tool used to change the Rev Limit.
For the love of all that is holy....

Once you buy a Cobb AP download the software Access Tuner Race along with the OEM Style Map and Stage 1 map from the Cobb website.

Load the Stage 1 or OEM Style tune in to ATR.
Change the ******* RPM and save the map.
Load the map to the goddam Cobb AP device by plugging it in to your computer.
Use the Cobb AP Manager to load the ATR Map with the raised rpm.

Unplug Cobb from computer
Plub Cobb in to your stupid Car
Upload the new bloody Map.

Can we now close this thread.

I'm appreciative for your response, but in all honesty how would a potential buyer know this from reading the vendor's website? Maybe they don't want to flaunt all it's many capabilities to sell more units, but typically that's how it works.

Now if there are instructions or a FAQ when you purchase the unit that's a different story.

The point I was making is that it shouldn't be so hard to find out what a $600 piece of equipment can and cannot do for you. One shouldn't have to scour 100s of pages on a forum(to which they may not even be a member).

Having said that, I'm glad I know now, pretty much seals the deal on me getting one.

**** ... dude .. did I **** up?
When did we start talking about the Auto?
I must have missed that post.

At least the OP was about an Auto ... well it didn't say.

There is no downloadable Map from Cobb for the Auto RX8.
So its kind of a mute point as you'll have to get the Auto Map from a 2nd party Tuner like MM.
