Hello, owner of a 04, 78k miles. Recently noticed startups have been kinda weird, first one of the day is always normal. After a while running it, if i were to turn it off, and a few minutes later try and start up again, it takes a while for it to start back up again. Cracks up like its flooded but i know its not, I usually rev up to 3k-4k before turning it off. It only happens if I try to turn it on moments after previously turning it off. It usually turns back on after a good 5-10 minutes of cranking it. Wat do you guys think? starter? battery?

Yea was definitely thinking it was the starter. Read up there is something wrong with the 04 model's starter. But took it to the local autozone n got it checked out, and they said it wasent the starter.

 

There was nothing wrong with the original 04 starter. There were certain cars that were having problems starting when they were warm (mine). The updated starter was Mazda's attempt to get away without replacing engines due to low compression. If you spin them faster, the compression will be higher.
