Sluggish Start/No Power
Sluggish Start/No Power
So for about the last month, sometimes my car will really struggle, with almost no power, above 5500-6000 rpms and and when it does begin to struggle it gets extremely loud (almost like an exhaust leak, kind of a motorboat sound). Also, sometimes the car is sluggish to start. 6-8 maybe 10 seconds to start. Other times it starts right up.
So I started doing some research on here and had come to the conclusion that the Cat was clogged/bad, because I had been smelling that burning smell after driving. I also noticed that hot starts were becoming more difficult.
Yesterday, I pulled the cat off, gutted the whole thing and bolted it back up. Still a bit sluggish to start but it fired up, and I drove it down the street and back. Car seemed to have much more power than before so I was hopeful that this was the problem.
Car sat over night and when I went to start it up this afternoon, no dice. It would crank pretty solid but would never turn over. Thought maybe it was flooded. Tried the de-flooding method but nothing. Battery finally got pretty weak so I gave up.
Car has 130k on the Odo, so Im very uneasy that I am losing compression, but I dont know enough about 8's to be able to tell. Hoping maybe coils/plugs/wires would do the trick. Hoping....
IF the car is going to need a new motor, what am I looking at?
I know there are a million posts about this, and I've tried to research the best I could, but I figured I would see if anyone could give some insight as to my particular situation.
