Anyone know of a good wax that won't turn white and then not want to come off the black parts?

Tired of taping off the black pieces!

 

This stuff is a lot better than nothing and works on plastic surfaces as well:

 

turtle wax ice. you can use it in the sun too

 

most wax or polymers will stain your trim ...

other than taping off, or finding one of the lower quality diluted waxes that dont stain, you best bet is to use :

Good product, but it wont remove the wax, that just puts a coat of glaze over the trim piece. Unfortunately after a good rain storm or two, it washes off.

 

I read that turtle ice doesnt, but then if all the good ones stain and offer good protection/gloss why mess with it.

 

Correct, most spray waxes wont, but they generally don't offer as much protection as a hard wax or compound. I personally like to use the spray waxes as a 'maintenance' between full details.

 

I use Turtle Wax Ice, and it is great on BB, but it will turn your rear diffuser white as **** if you hit it. I still have to pick me up some of that Ultima Tire and Trim Guard Plus, as a lot of you have suggested for the black plastic parts and tires. Anyone have pics of this stuff in action?

 

Try Worlds Best Wax, i actually put it on my plastic trim to make it darker

 

bump. dodo juice waxes are amazing. I use orange crush soft wax on my vred. put it on glass or black plastic and it does not turn white or make smear marks.

 

I used to use Klasse AIO never had any staining. Currently using Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax. Easy on and off.

 

Detailer's pride Max, if you like hard paste style in a canister, as a bonus this stuff is amazingly easy to take off

Sonax Nano Pro, if you like liquid, takes a bit more elbow grease than I'd like to take out all smudges, but darkens paint nicely like a carnauaba, while being long lasting like a synthetic sealant.

1z glanz wax, this stuff does stain, but is easily taken off from black trim with a detailers pen (brush on one side, silicone point on the other, got it for $2 at local walmart). This is my current go to wax, it doesn't darken paint, so metallic flakes pop alot more, and it's ridiculous how long lasting it is.

 

VaporWax acrylic paint conditioner is perfect for that, It is not a wax, it does not turn white on any surface and it never dulls, It works on paint, vinyl. rubber and chrome. I have this issue too when I wax my car. For those of you that have white hazing on your plastic trim, give peanut butter or linseed oil a try.

Would have to use the linseed oil. I couldn't waste perfectly good peanut butter on my car.

I realize that the OP posted some time ago and may not be currently active. But as there have been posts recently I'll assume nobody will mind me adding my 2 cents, for what it's worth.

If you can find it, I have found that the Eagle One spray-on wax is very good at not leaving black parts white. I have used this with success not only on my RX8, but also on the first generation Mini Cooper. A car known to have the poorest quality black parts ever!

 

I can give some awesome reviews about ice wax also! I've had a black car and a black cherry car, i use it on both! You will never see any white residue. You'll only see spots where you miss!

I do it after a nice car wash in the sun. It's so convenient and i feel like the bottle lasts forever!

Damn this thread is old but if you're still using conventional wax then get with the bandwagon!

Synthetic sealants are here to stay.

Personally, my LSP is Optimum Opti-Coat on all my vehicles.

 

I waxed/polished my car this weekend. After, I noticed that the rubber strip under the passenger door window - above the door panel now has these white strains.

When I wipe it down with water or cleaner, it turns black but after it dries, the white spots appear. I suspect that this was caused by the wax/polish.

Anyone experience this and have any advice or tips to fix this?

Yes, I did but it wasn't clear what they were referring to. I was able to rub off the wax/polish on the car (metal, plastic). It took a few car washes and scrubbing but the rubber strip is a different story.

The spots on it just won't go away. Any help besides just replacing it or painting it black??

Agreed, but with one caveat. I've moved to a new place with high minerals in the city water. It wreaked havoc on Zaino, especially Z2-Pro. Z5-Pro doesn't see to suffer quite as badly. I've had the water tested, adjusted the water softener accordingly, used a motorhome hose filter, etc...nothing helped. Water spots would form after a wash, and the minerals just won't come off easily like they should. A quick detail with a capful of vinegar would get them mostly, but at that point you're removing your Zaino with the mild acid.

I've switched over to some different Meguiars stuff, and am happy. They don't last nearly as long, but they do a much better job of resisting those water spots. Anyway, it is a quick and easy job with Black Wax to wash, air dry, wipe down, and apply an AIO like Black Wax with a Porter Cable. Can do all that in under an hour now with a 2 bucket wash method.

So, FYI for anyone who might be in an area with hard water. I've switched over to Black Wax/ Ultimate Wax and the water spot problem disappeared. And, niether of those products stain trim. YMMV
