R3 Bilstein Shocks

Are the Bilstein shocks on the R3 the same at the ones offered with the PSS9s?

No. That isn't even the correct photo for the RX8 model of the PSS9s. They should be all silver.

The R3, and 40th anniversary come with Bilstein HD's. The PSS9's are coil overs

When I was talking to the guy at Fat Cat he hinted that the R3 dampeners are not exactly the same as the HD's externally. I guess they are harder to rebuild, something about a sealed or pressed top. Of course he wants me to send him my set up for him to play with a re-valve job on.

Yup...now I feel really stupid. I think I win for the dumb question of the day award. Thanks for being polite about it though.

Bilstein's in S2's (R3) are not the same as S1 Bilstein's (40th and Shinka.)

When I say not the same...I mean by Mazda Part Number, which is physically stamped into the OEM Bilstein Shocks by Bilstein.

In other words Mazda does not recognizes their RX-8 Bilsteins as the same for each Series, just like there are as many if not more (12 different Mazda shocks) for the NC MX-5....when aftermarket says there is only one or two from each brand.

What is the difference, mainly in shock valve and spring rates.

Now will these R3's on eBay fit, I really cant see why not.

Apart from the shocks and springs ..these are the only parts in Series 2 which are different by Mazda Part Number to S1...which are supplied with your eBay set.

TEAM has had experience with these from memory and would confirm if they fit, sorry I cant remember, but I think they will?
