Worlds First RB26 Swapped RX-8 ( RB8 )

I'm not sure if the owner is a member here, but I thought I'd share some updates on the build. TCS and ABS and all of that will be retained. Haltech Platinum Sport 2000 will used.

All Credit goes to the builder and owner of the vehicle :D

Sweet.
Looks like radiator, pulleys and fans will just barely fit.

There's not really a build thread, the fabricator is postings pics as he's going along the process. I will update the thread as it goes :D In about 3 weeks time, the car was stripped, old engine out new engine fitted, fabricated mounts and crossmember, shifter fits perfectly in stock location, crapload of wiring soldered and heatshrinked, etc etc.

Out with the old AWD pan and in with new RWD pan

She sits well in there, plenty of room and motor is smack dab in the centerline of the front axle

That is going to add a lot of weight up front. Not sure if it is the angle of the picture but is appears a lot of the motor is past the shock towers . Bet it will be a fun ride though

Same here, also following the actual builder :D He said that all the creature comforts will be up and running just like stock. Let's see what amazing stuff he can accomplish

Someone is bound to ask, and it might as well me be

"Will there be a kit in the future?" (to someone who knows the builder)

Pardon my ignorance, I assume the RB28 is the Skyline motor? Wonder how much that will upset the handling on the car? Should be awesome though!

This could be sick, if they manage to not completely destroy the location of the steering rack, which they most undoubtedly will.

Total weight of an RB26DETT with turbos is about 550-650lbs give or take, tranny is about 200lbs (if using the RB's tranny). That is quite a bit heavier than a fully dressed Renny.

Oh and the Greddy kit for the RB26DETT uses the same T618Z turbos as the RX-8 kit.

Looks great very impressive. Autocross last weekend we had an amazing Yellow S2000 with the Corvette V8 in it (LS7 I think) great car but it wasn't very fast around the track too much power.
My time CS 666 PAUL WRIGHT MAZDA RX8 71.458
His time EM 892 CARLOS RIOS 01 HONDA S2000 88.162
Not sure if it was just driver error or what but all the stock S2000 were faster too
