Question Good, or Bad?

Hello, I'm looking around for an 8 at the moment. I've done soo much research the past couple weeks once I decided I was going to get one. I have narrowed it down to a few, but the one in the link is probably the one. I just wanted to post it on here too see what y'all thought about the price for what it's worth. If you could help me out it would be appreciated, don't wan to get robbed on the price or worse. Thanks!

Kelley Blue Book values this car at 12,000 or so in excellent condition from a dealer, less if from an individual. I looked at the ad and they say they cleaned the engine. What is that? Did the engine get rebuilt or they just cleaned the exterior of the engine. With any used RX8, especially with 70,000 miles on it, you need to have a valid compression test done on the engine to make sure it is still healthy. If they won't do that for you, DO NOT BUY THIS CAR! Also you need to check the carfax to see the vehicle's history, service, recalls, accidents, etc.

Don't let your excitement get the best of your sense here. Do the homework on this car before you consider buying it.

I have owned seven rotary cars since 1973 and now drive a 2008 40th Anniversary Edition RX8. They are great cars for the right enthusiasts. But you don't want to buy someone else's abused RX8 and then shoulder all the fixes. Are they offering a warranty on the car ? You would have the Mazda warranty on the rotary engine up to eight years and 100,000 miles from 2004. But replacing an engine would still cost you for all the non engine parts that would also need to be replaced, and their labor to install. So it is vital to know the health of the engine and other vital parts of the car, AND if all the Mazda updates to the 2004 were done, such as starter upgrade.

A FACTORY BUYBACK...
Based on that part of the description alone... I would be patient, and keep searching.

Yeah, I didn't know which way to go from seeing that. A good thing would be that the recalls were taken care of, that's why it was a buyback...you would think they got the kinks out. But then again, who's to say they didn't just get it drivable to sell.

I'm gonna have them send me a list of what all has been done and the Carfax report and everything. If I do get it, I will be getting quite a bit off the price that's for sure

I used to be an auto mechanic at a (couple of) dealerships. It takes an awful lot of problems, and an incredible amount of unfulfilled visits to the dealership, to get them to buyback a car. Basically, it's their last resort.

In the 8 years that I worked at Dodge/Jeep dealerships, I only recall two cars being bought back. And in those two examples, the customer had every right to be unhappy with their lemon.

Even after it was brought back to standard and fixed, was the vehicle sold and problem free?

I got all of the information about the lemon buyback title that it is. It was from back in 2004, the engine was repaired 3 times, couldn't fix the problem so since it was under warranty and so new, they replaced the vehicle, Mazda took it back, replaced the whole engine, but it got stuck with a lemon buyback title. Doesn't sound too bad since it was due to the engine problems they had early on, but because of the title there is a good chance I won't be able to finance it anyways...gotta keep on searching :|
