Hi guys i need a bit of help. When driving my 8 i hear this clicking sound that coincides with the spinning of the tires. I believe the sound is coming from the front left tire. I just got my front struts replaced thinking that was the problem but the sound continues. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

a bit more info is needed.
What year is your car? How many miles? Do you have any aftermarket rims/tires/etc.
Is the sound during normal driving, high/ low speed, etc etc.

Also, have you had any spark plug work done recently? Could be a loose plug wire..

 

It is a 2005 base model with 65000 miles. The only thing that could be aftermarket are the KYB struts that just got installed a week ago. The sound starts happening after a few minutes of driving at any speed. The spark plug issue could be it. Will look into that.

 

If it's a continuous sound coming from the wheels, it could be your wheel bearings is shot.

 

this, make sure your wires are on nice and tight...i had the same problem.

 

How about your brake pads, were they recently replaced as well?

 

I had a clicking sound that corresponded with the speed of the wheels that was louder at lower speeds and went away at highway speeds. It turned out to be a bolt stuck in my tire.

 

There is also a known issue with the 18" rims in low speed turns where the rim rubs and slides on the rust of the hub which produces a clicking sound. The cure for it is to tighten the lug nuts to 108ft-lbs. Mine did that until I scraped the rust off of both surfaces and painted the hub.

 

The reason I asked about the brake pads is because of the shims and the retainers. The retainers caused the clicking, it was obvious and disappears when I apply pressure on the brakes or if I make a full turn. The retainer lost the tension holding the pads in the calipers, so the clicking was due to the pads hitting the calipers while the wheel is in motion.

 

Have you checked for a nail in the tire?
