So an issue I have been having lately is that the battery light will come on while cruising on the freeway. Usually I go between 70-74, but the light has come on at speeds anywhere from 65-84.

It happens when I am going dead straight, on a flat highway, with or without cruise control on, and turning the radio and or a/c on and or off dont alleviate the problem. As soon as i get off the freeway, no problems. I dont feel a lack of power when it happens, none of the electronics wig out, nothing adverse seems to happen when it pops up.

Driving at lower speeds doesnt cause the same result, even when every other variable is the same.

could it be overcharging? Has anyone else seen this happen? Could it be harming anything, or does it not make a lick a difference?

 

if the battery light is coming on like that, I would test the battery, the connections, and definitely the alternator

also make sure the battery was replaced per mazda, as it should have been with the starter.

are you sure its the battery light? The coolant light looks simlair to a battery light.. the Coolant light is known to come on at times since the sensor isnt that good
