Ok to Disconnect Battery for Storage?
Ok to Disconnect Battery for Storage?
I bought my 8 last Feb and just took it out of winter storage for the first time last week. Unfortunately, the free garage where I store it does not have any nearby outlets ... so I could not attach a trickle charger. I know this is the best option to save the battery, but is there anything else I can do to to make sure the car will start when I take it out of storage again? Buying a new battery every year is not ideal.
I took it to Bobby and Steve's and they suggested to disconnect the negative terminal from the battery and let it hang loosely all winter, saying it would be fine come spring. Has anyone does this or know of a reason not to try it? Google search shows mixed opinions.
Looking for any suggestions here, thanks!

I suggest take out thw battery and put it on something that is wood out of the sun, should be good. Don't leave in cart you never know when it could leak or create corrosion on terminals

You should take the battery back to your house and store it inside in a room that is maintained at room temperature and keep it on a trickle charger. If you can not put the car on a trickle charger then there is nothing that you are going to be able to do to save your battery besides running it once a week.
