Cars that are most fun to drive!!!
Cars that are most fun to drive!!!
Of course, the one and only... the Mazda RX8.
If i compare my 2 cars, i like driving the Mazda 6i because it has a softer suspension (even though it's lowered). My RX8 has a stiff suspension and it's still fun to drive minus the stiffness of the suspension.

Once again they have knocked the rx8 on acceleration, but failed to note the slower acceleration on other cars on their list. Perhaps the Consumer Reports testers were driving the rx8 like it was any other piston engine--it takes time to break old habits and drive in the opposite fashion. Certainly they did not have the time. I don't know how "explosive" they expect acceleration to be.
They should stick to writing about the top 10 clothes irons that are the most ergonomic to use, and put the least amount of strain on their wrists.

ha ha, here's one for the mini:
"The cabin is surprisingly roomy, with plenty of front leg room, but the rear seat is very tight."
sooooo, is the cabin roomy is is space tight?? the FRONT is room and the BACK is tight...so it can't really be roomy overall based on that.

YMMV.
I was just saying that limiting yourself to not driving or judging performance of a car based on how it looks is silly. You'd really be selling yourself short if you passed up some seat time in an EVO.
Sorry, I've had the pleasure of driving a Tommi Maikkonen Edition. I'm a little spoiled, and seem to find myself setting the performance goals of most of my cars near the factory performance of the TME. LOL.

I'm not a "racing" enthusiast, I'm a "driving" enthusiast. There is ALWAYS a faster car out there. Comparing the 8 to turbo-charged, piston-engined cars is like comparing apples to oranges. I class it more as a roadster than something to point and shoot, or burn off tire tread drifting. It has more than enough power to suit me- I can get in trouble in a hurry in this car if that were my intention, lol.
All other things considered though, my preferences tend toward something that visually isn't just another box or jelly bean. It's (relatively) easy to bolt a turbo on any old sedan and get a beast.
I have never driven any other car that feels better or handles better than the 8, even at twice the price. Some pricey ones almost equal it.
So if fast times and track adrenaline are what you are after, then my preferences won't cut it for you. Have fun.
Hmm, perhaps I misunderstood you. My apologies.
I have a lot of background in racing and building air cooled Porsche's with my father, but I wouldn't necessarily classify myself a racing enthusiast anymore. I feel i would fall into more of the driving enthusiast side of things anymore, as well.
I bought my rx8 because I grew weary of my MR2. I wanted something still very civilized and when I want it to, will go like hell. The handling of the 8 -stock- blows my mind. And this is coming from someone who put thousand of dollars into a mid engined sports car's suspension (we live and learn I suppose). For a modern car, in a day and age of drivers aids, and electronic this and that, I feel just as connected to my RX8 as I did my MR2. so I think I certainly get where you are coming from.
I do disagree about track adrenaline, however. The 8 delivers it and then some for me. I'm still "stock" for the most part, and I find myself keeping up with cars I never dreamed of all the while grinning from ear to ear.
Later,
Drew

I think we agree on this actually, with me perhaps being a little too hung-up on visual appeal. The 8 certainly delivers in that department.
Well then sell your 8 and go by a Lancer dude! Regardless of the performance they look like a Lancer so no thanks.
U mad? Where did I once say that I'm not happy with my cars performance. RTFT.
Also, this logic baffles me. You are bitching about how a car looks, when the thread is about "Cars that are most fun to drive." according to Yahoo auto's impressions. Not "Which car looks the best".
Did I miss something or is fanboyism getting in the way here?
I for one am flattered that my car is even in the running with cars of that caliber from a performance perspective (Z06, EVO X, MX-5). Because with the exception of the EVO, those are all 2 door bonafide sports cars (ok maybe not the Mini lol) many of which that have much more power and are geared more towards performance.

Drew
