I ordered DDM HID kit for my fogs , its H11 35W 3k yellow. Hooked up everything as should be (at least I believe so) When I turned the fog lights on , nothing happened , no light , the ballast didn't buzz , completely nothing. Any suggestions? I attach couple pix for you to check

Both sides do no turn on? Are the headlights on?

 

If you install your HID kit and they do not turn on you may have reverse polarity. What this means is the power and ground wires are your vehicles stock harness are reversed. What you will have to do is plug the harness connector into the ballast backwards. You will be plugging in the connector from your car into the kit backwards. This will not harm the vehicle or the kit.

Note: Reverse Polarity is an issue with the cars wiring not the HID kit. Some cars come from the factory wired in an orientation that is reversed when compared to the HID kit. When using stock halogen bulbs, polarity has no effect, therefore, some manufactures will have the power and ground wires opposite of the HID kit. Some manufactures will have reverse polarity more then others. A lot of GM models have reverse polarity.

 

Also check your fuses just to be sure you didn't blow them

 

Thats what my friend needed to do with his camaro , but does mazda has reverse polarity too? Do I need to connect all plugs backwards or just the one that connects the bulbs? I put everything together today since my 8 is daily and I had to go somewhere , I will try to plug them backwards tmrw

 

you would only need to plug the factory harness in backwards. You cannot install the ballast and bulb plugs backwards since they are keyed

 

I will try plugging them backwards tmrw , also I dont think its the fuse because it works fine with regular bulb. Thanks for the advice and I'll keep you updated!

FWIW, on both the DDM kit and the VHIDs kit i was able to color match the ballast to the factory harness without issue.

may sound dumb but make sure your fog light switch is on lol

 

Yeah the fog light switch is on lol , I really don't have time this week , and really annoying that in order to switch bulbs you need take wheels and that cover (THOSE PINS?!) So I will try next week, I hope its just case of plugging them in backwards

 

I'm having the same issue with my fogs too. could it be possibly that i need a relay?

 

 

So the problem was reverse polarity , everything works great now , To be honest I expected the 3000K to look more yellow.... The glare is pretty yellow but the bulbs them self aren't so yellow, well thats gonna change because I want to put some yellow overlay on fogs soon anyway. But thanks for all responses!

 

you have to get below 3k to really see a deep yellow
