Electrical smoke inside car!!!

Hi everybody

I have been reading you for the past year since I bought my 2004 RX8 (110 000Km). I was able to find here all the info that i needed about the car until yesterday when I got that electrical problem. First, its started with the alarm system going on by itself when it was warmer ouside (0 deg C) Then I notice that the door ajar light stayded on even if all the door were properly close. Then, the door light would start flashing rapedly until i start de car.

The last thing that happend to me yesterday is that the light kept flashing even after I started the car. I drove for 10 min and stop the car. At that moment I could smell an electrical burning smell and I saw smoke comming from the carpet on the right side of the driver seat. There was also some smoke from the front vent. I waited a bit and restarted the car to bring it back home. The rpm would go down very low and stall if i did keep them above 1000. I had the check engine light on and the 15A room fuse blow. I did notice a lot of water from the melting snow on the carpet.

Anybody heard of a problem like that?

You have a short.....better go looking for the hot spot and see what kind of damage it has caused.

Sounds like it is in the door circuit someplace

There is no easy way but to start tracing the wires that are in the blown circuit until you find the problem
