Unhappy things to do when having a rebuild?

Ok so its looking more and more like il be joining the long list of compression failures so I could do with ideas of things to do whilst its out im already planning porting but is there anything else maybe upgrades (already got BHR ignition kit).
Any tips would be great but can we keep this a F-I freezone thats for another time.

A little porting\cleaning, better and tighter seal clearances, oil bypass regulator and a lightweight flywheel (that you're already waiting to arrive).
That's pretty much all you can do without going crazy and start investing on ceramic seals, dynamic rotor balancing etc. Stuff that sounds great but empties your wallet without adding much if anything to a road car

I'm after a safe boost without to much compromise ie engine life span.
